Dream Big

Unfortunately I'm still not feeling very well but I wanted to share the ACEO that I finished, it was the WIP from yesterday.  I don't have anything started to show you at the moment and I didn't write a poem to go with this one yet either.  I do intend on coming up with a poem for this one at some point so I will probably come back and add it in eventually.  Hopefully I get feeling better soon and get things back on track around here!!  I have a big art show coming up August 24 & 25 weekend which is why I have been building my ACEO collection back up again amongst other things as well, just hard to do much when your sick! blah

I LOVE To Paint

Nothing makes me happier then doing art and I am seriously blessed in my life that everyday I get to get up and do exactly what I love for every waking moment of every single day of my life!  I have been painting non stop for days now and have 4 finished pieces to share with you, if you follow my FB page you probably already seen a few or all of them already.  The other piece that I am working on is the custom painting from my last give away and I am video taping the process as well so I will soon have a new video to share with you as soon as I am finished, hopefully by the end of this week.  All I can tell you in the mean time is its 9x12 mixed media on canvas, there is a lot of pink and purple, a girl with big blue eyes, brown hair in pig tail braids and wearing cat ears on her head, she has freckles and there's a panda hanging out with her!

My inspiration for this one was punctuation,  if you didn't notice yet you should be able to pick out all the different punctuation throughout the painting such as the asterisks (*) the question mark (?)  the quotations (") and the big etc. for the owls belly! lol  even the branch the owl is sitting on is a square bracket [ turned on its side. lol  I really didn't have much of a plan when I started this one other then the punctuation so I just started throwing colors on the canvas and many many layers later I arrived at this and I couldn't be happier with how it turned out!

To The Point

This next canvas actually started out as a panda! yes a panda! lol I know what your probably thinking, she doesn't look anything like a panda! lol This I already know!  Sometimes, actually most of the time if I start a painting with a plan, I never ever follow it, something completely different then my plan ends up coming out so that is why most of the time I just dive in without a plan, I figure whats the point?  The painting is just going to do what it wants anyhow! lol I can't say that I am unhappy with the direction this painting took though, I love this girl and so glad she decided to make an appearance!  When I finished the background I no longer could see a panda, but rather instead all I could see was this girl so clearly it was as if I had already painted her so I really didn't have a choice in the matter!  I was recently asked by someone where I got this girl from and all I could say to that was "my imagination?" not sure if I misunderstood the question or not but in case anybody is wondering, yes I do paint all my girls from my imagination, they are my own creations and not digital stamps or cut outs or anything like that.  I am thinking about creating some big eyed girl digital stamps to sell in my Etsy Shop soon so if you are into that type of thing keep your eyes peeled!

This canvas started out so different then it ended up its not even funny! If you can believe it I actually started by mod podging the entire canvas with lined paper like you use in school, the kind with the blue horizontal lines and one red vertical line down the side. I then doodled in black pen all over the entire canvas and it looked really cool! However then I started to add paint and before you knew it there was absolutely no trace left of that first layer! lol  I am totally ok with that though, its all about the process for me and I had a lot of fun making this canvas and I am thrilled with how the finished piece looks so its all good in my books!

This next owl canvas actually started out to be an owl and ended up as an owl! Imagine that! lol My inspiration for this one actually came from a treasury on Etsy HERE I just happened to come across the treasury in my activity feed and thought it was so soft and pretty, I loved the cute items and the soft colors and they were totally sticking in my head, urging me to paint them so I started out mod podging this canvas with 3 colors of tissue paper, pastel yellow, pastel peach/pink and baby blue.  There's about 5 or 6 layers so you cant see too much of the tissue paper now but it still gives great texture that shows through all the layers!  I have to say this may even be one of my favorite owl paintings yet, I am totally in love with it!!

For The Love Of Art

Well, Im going into week 2 of this horrible nasty cold that I seemed to have caught!  Though sick I have still been doing some painting though not as much as I would have liked.  I can't really afford to be sick with another show only a week and a half away!

Anywho, with the whining out of the way I can share with you what I have managed to complete here so far. This first painting that I am going to share with you was inspired by the general public at the art shows that I do.  Too often I hear from people about how they love my art and would love to buy some of it but it just doesn't match their decor in their house at the moment!  I just want to scream every time I hear this!  Personally I think that if you are buying art just because it matches your couch, or a lamp, or a rug, then those are all the wrong reasons to buy art!  When you buy a piece of original artwork that is something that is probably going to be with you for the rest of your life so it should be purchased because you have a love for that artwork, because it "speaks" directly to you in some way!  Furniture and our home decor in general will change over the years so if you are buying art only because it happens to match the color of your couch at the moment then what happens when you get a new couch?  I could go on an on.... this is a rant that I am extremely passionate about but instead of ranting about it with words I put my passion into a new painting and so I digress...

After selling completely out of all the mini owl canvas's that I finished previously, I did manage to complete another one which is the first of many more to come.  This owl painting was inspired by a line of Adidas clothes that I was looking at with my husband at the mall recently.  I really loved the neon colors and geometric patterns...

Up In Flames

Unfortunately the painting that I just shared with you a couple of days ago went up in flames last night after my cat snuck into my studio, knocked the painting off of the shelf and down onto a tea light candle I had burning on the little table below.  I was in my studio when this happened which is why all I lost was the painting and not the entire house so I guess I can be thankful for that and also be thankful that I had already made prints and have the digital image to continue to make prints of this painting before it had happened.   Is there a lesson to be learned here?  Well, I have given this some thought and I am really not quite sure, I could live my life in fear and never burn candles ever again, get rid of all pets cuz who knows what could happen.  None of these things sounds logical to me and I think I just need to chalk it up to Shit Happens! So I will continue to burn candles because they smell pretty and as always be as careful with them as humanly possible and as for the pets, they can stay because I cant imagine a life without them, I love them way too much despite what they may destroy of mine.  Maybe I just need to be even more careful when entering and leaving my studio that nobody has snuck in below my feet when I come and go; and I will live to paint even more paintings despite what could happen to them after I've painted them.

As for the other painting that I had shared with you a couple of days ago, the very beginning stages of, it looked like this the last time you saw it
I have got quite a ways further on it though not quite complete yet but I do have some more up to date pics of what it looks like right now

I haven't yet decided on a name for this one hopefully I will have that figured out by the time I finish it.  Have any suggestions for me?  In case you can't yet tell from the pics the girl is going to have 2 little mice friends that are hanging out in her long hair.  She will also be wearing mice ears on her head as well.  This painting is another mixed media painting, so far I've used acrylic paint, india inks, distressed inks, watercolor pencils, a page out of an old book, tissue paper, pink tulle, iridescent medium, super heavy gloss medium, modge podge, smooch shimmer pens, smooch shimmer spritzers and that is all I can remember using at the moment lol  Im sure that list will grow by the time I finish this one.

Those of you that are artists as well, have you ever had art that you created be destroyed right before your eyes right after creating it?  I am curious to hear your related stories ♥

New Paintings

I have 3 new paintings to share with you today and a couple of more on the way as soon as I get them photographed as well.   As some may have already noticed I have started writing poems to go with each of my new paintings just as I have always done with my art dolls and I am totally addicted to it! lol  It just happens without even thinking about it now, as I am painting the picture I am writing the poem in my head at the same time, I dont think I could stop even if I tried lol So for each of my originals that have a poem assocciated with it I will be including the poem either written on the back where possible or if it isn't possible then it will be included printed on a separate card.  All three of these originals are now available in my Etsy Shop and just the first 2 are available there in print form as well.   These are the new paintings and their poems....

My Pet Monster
8" x 10"
acrylic on canvas panel

My pet monster
best friend I ever had
through all the good times
and even all the bad
we walk the streets together
some people gawk and stare
when you moan "hi" to them
it gives them quite the scare
I don't mind when you drool
and your eyes rolls in your head
your still totally cool
and always welcome in my bed
and when your limbs and tail
fall off and need repair
I can stitch them on again
I will always be right there

Zombie Ballet
6" x 8"
acrylic on canvas panel

Ever so gracefully
she dances all around
across the floor
up and down
as she performs
the Zombie Ballet
ever so beautifully
on this special day!

Zombie Kittie
4" x 4" x 1.5"
mixed media on artists wood block

My Zombie Kittie
is so cool
even though
she moans and drools
shes always there
if I feel sad
to cheer me up
by being bad
we always have
the very most fun
even when
we get chased by guns
there's always room
in my cozy bed
for my zombie kitty
even if shes undead

Introducing the Newest Addition To My Studio

I am totally excited about the newest addition to my studio, a top of the line Epson Ink Jet printer that I can now print my own Giclee prints on and I must say, I am having a ball coming up with new creations using it!

So far I have been making stickers of my artwork in all shapes and sizes and am in the process of designing new biz cards and promo cards for my art.   Mind you I have only had the printer for 1 day lol and so last but definitely not least, actually my favorite yet is the awesome giclee prints that I am able to print here in my studio now!

What I did here was cropped out just a portion of 2 of my original acrylic paintings Don't Pop My Heart and Bathing In Rainbows, I then printed them on 5x7 heavy weight archival matte photo paper and added a whole bunch of hand painted detail making them each their own original and one of a kind pieces of art.  They were then sealed with an acrylic matte sealer/varnish and then hand stitched to a decorative piece of cardstock that was just slightly bigger then the prints making the entire pieces apprx 6"x8" in size.  In the end I had this...

What's On Your Mind?

My newest creations, that I am totally loving are Art Journals!  I have made 2 now so far and working on the third right after this blog post. lol I knew right away that they were a success when after I had listed the first one, within an hour it had sold off of my Etsy Shop.  I was shocked as that has never happened with anything I have listed before, and on the other hand I was like, well it's about time! After all, I do create beautiful works of art, that I put a ton of work into.

Each journal is handpainted with Lixuitex Acrylics on a piece of canvas paper which I adhere to a cardboard cover, the entire book is bound together with a #10 embroidery thread and then sealed with a glossy acrylic varnish so these journals will definately stand the test of time.

For my first creation, I chose to do a very unique scene where the sky is pink and gray, the moon is zebra print and little skulls hang from the tree branches with pink and blue bows on their heads.  That was on the front and on the back a blue and black zebra print with tons of glitter and the word 'dream' near the bottom with a black and silver butterfly flying up from the word.  It really was a masterpiece I must admit!

As for the second Art Journal, and following along with my mission to paint this world zebra print one moon, tree or in this case shroom at a time!  This journal features a psychadelic background with 2 zebra print mushrooms standing tall and proud in the center.  On the back a black, white and gray swirly flower design with a ton of glitter, for all my hippie friends.

And to top it all off, I have recieved to custom orders for Art Journals now so I will be working on those as well as the third Art Journal for my shop is going to be a deluxe complete with sections and everything.  Look for these in a future post,  til then stay creative, unique and original cause you are OOAK!!!
