Twinkle Twinkle

Twinkle Twinkle
2.5" x 3.5" ACEO
Mixed Media Original Painting
$25 @ www.oddballartco.etsy.com

I created this ACEO last night after being inspired by Natasa May's Blog Post on painting big haired girls, check out her awesome video she made about her process!

For mine I used acrylic paints, markers, inks, watercolor pencils & lots of sparkles,  the stars and moon were painted on a separate piece of paper then cut out and strung with thread before I used super heavy gel medium to attach them all to the art card.  The finishing touch was the glow in the dark paint that I used to paint all the stars, moon and thread with so when the lights go out you get a neat surprise!  Once the sun goes down tonight I will try to capture the glow in the dark part with my camera and share the pics on my FB page if I am able to do it.

Let Your Dreams Lead The Way

I created this new mixed media ACEO last night using acrylic paints, markers, india inks and a quote that I typed up on the computer in Courier Font.  It is now available in my Etsy Shop HERE.

I also wanted to mention that as I am working on all new ACEO's right now I have put all my art cards from last year and older on sale for only 99 cents!  They are all original hand painted cards, not prints!  I just want to get them all cleared out to make room for all the new ones that I am currently making!  They are going pretty fast though but there are still a few left in my ACEO section on Etsy HERE.   Til the end of May if you spend $10 or more you can get $5 OFF using the coupon code MAY05 at checkout!

I also created this ACEO 2 days ago, you may have already seen it on FB or Etsy when I posted it yesterday but thought I would share it here for those of you who may have missed it!

See you soon with more ACEO's!!! ( the little buggers are addictive! lol)

Up In Flames

Unfortunately the painting that I just shared with you a couple of days ago went up in flames last night after my cat snuck into my studio, knocked the painting off of the shelf and down onto a tea light candle I had burning on the little table below.  I was in my studio when this happened which is why all I lost was the painting and not the entire house so I guess I can be thankful for that and also be thankful that I had already made prints and have the digital image to continue to make prints of this painting before it had happened.   Is there a lesson to be learned here?  Well, I have given this some thought and I am really not quite sure, I could live my life in fear and never burn candles ever again, get rid of all pets cuz who knows what could happen.  None of these things sounds logical to me and I think I just need to chalk it up to Shit Happens! So I will continue to burn candles because they smell pretty and as always be as careful with them as humanly possible and as for the pets, they can stay because I cant imagine a life without them, I love them way too much despite what they may destroy of mine.  Maybe I just need to be even more careful when entering and leaving my studio that nobody has snuck in below my feet when I come and go; and I will live to paint even more paintings despite what could happen to them after I've painted them.

As for the other painting that I had shared with you a couple of days ago, the very beginning stages of, it looked like this the last time you saw it
I have got quite a ways further on it though not quite complete yet but I do have some more up to date pics of what it looks like right now

I haven't yet decided on a name for this one hopefully I will have that figured out by the time I finish it.  Have any suggestions for me?  In case you can't yet tell from the pics the girl is going to have 2 little mice friends that are hanging out in her long hair.  She will also be wearing mice ears on her head as well.  This painting is another mixed media painting, so far I've used acrylic paint, india inks, distressed inks, watercolor pencils, a page out of an old book, tissue paper, pink tulle, iridescent medium, super heavy gloss medium, modge podge, smooch shimmer pens, smooch shimmer spritzers and that is all I can remember using at the moment lol  Im sure that list will grow by the time I finish this one.

Those of you that are artists as well, have you ever had art that you created be destroyed right before your eyes right after creating it?  I am curious to hear your related stories

Here & Now

A few weeks ago my wonderful husband took me on a bit of shopping spree at Michaels for new art supplies, I don't even think I need to mention how fun that was!!!! No limit, whatever I wanted went in the cart!!!!  So I have been having a lot of fun over the past few weeks trying out new supplies, experimenting and just having an all around artsy great time with all my new stuff!

Over the past couple of weeks I have received the same request from a couple of different people asking me to share more pics of my works in progress (also asking when I will do more videos of my process and all I can say for that one is hopefully soon as they are quite time consuming to make) in the meantime sharing some pics of my WIP is quick and easy so look for those here and on FB!

If you follow my FB page you may have seen this WIP that I posted yesterday
I used acrylic paints, a whole bunch of different types and colors of inks, watercolor pencils, an old book page, modge podge and a few sparkles that accidentally got in there from my work table but it ended up being a happy accident so I'm ok with it lol all of that smashed together on a 5x7 cotton duck stretched canvas and I ended up with this
Pondering
Mixed Media Original
5" x 7" x .5"

It was late last night when I finished that one but I wasn't quite ready to call it a night so I got out a 4" x 12" x 1.5" gallery wrapped linen canvas and started this one below, it is in its very very early stages so doesn't really look like much just yet, so far I have a sketch of a girl with long hair wearing mouse ears and 2 cute little mice hanging out on her hair.  I have also modge podged some white and blue tissue papers over the whole canvas and that is as far as I have gotten right now.  I will post another pic when I get a little further along with this one.

A side from the canvas paintings that I am working on I am also trying to prepare for my next street show coming up in a few short weeks.  June 1 & 2 Art In The Park in Windsor, ON.  So I have a bunch of backpacks, wallets, cell phone cases, and tshirts all hand painted that I am working on as well.  So busy busy here just the way I love it!!! :)   How about you, are you planning on attending any summer art shows anytime soon?
